COMMENTS: The Ho-301 cannon is unusual because the round that it fires is not a cartridge but in effect a 40mm rocket. The propellant is contained in a chamber at the base of the projectile and once ignited vents through 12 exhaust ports, moving the projectile forward. This cannons performance suffered from a low muzzle velocity and low rate of fire though the round if it hit was probably quite devastating. |
